This industry cluster, which includes companies that provide support functions for businesses, covers a range of industries from copying services to temporary personnel agencies to architectural and engineering services.

In addition to cutting costs for existing businesses, the presence of a strong business services sector is an important asset in the recruitment of new companies. From a workforce standpoint, business services is a strong target for workforce because it represents a way to capture the high end of the national growth in service sector jobs. Computer and information technology jobs identified as an important sub-cluster.

Local employers cited these jobs as a specific need within this cluster to handle repair, programming, and networking needs that are currently being outsourced (at great expense) to outside firms. Banking and financial services are also included in sub-clusters due to the strong growth projections for the industry and anecdotal evidence that he industry provides an important source of entry-level work.
