Construction

The construction industry is not typically a target of economic developers.  First, it is almost completely driven by population growth and requires little public intervention, such as incentives, to attract construction businesses.

The transient and seasonal nature of the work can also make it unappealing from an economic development perspective.  However, from the standpoint of workforce investment, construction is a sound target.

In addition to offering a range of entry level and skilled occupations, many positions pay above average wages and can provide a chance to gain supervisory and management experience.  Continues population growth in the region should ensure continued demand for workers. .
