Pharr is in close proximity to an extensive variety of shopping malls, plazas, and downtown areas. The area is renowned for large retail selections, and retail corridors continue to expand rapidly. Big box retailers continue to move into the area, recognizing the opportunities that this region provides, not only for the local population, but the huge impact that Mexican Nationals and Winter Texans bring in terms of influx of retail dollars into the region.

The Arts
Surrounded by art museums and yearly cultural events is the City of Pharr. Pharr offers the annual Pharr HUB Phestival, this annual event brings the community together to celebrate in, family oriented festival’s, live music, fun & games, and plenty of food!
Art lovers will enjoy the Museum of South Texas History. The Museum has been apart of the community since 1967 and offers a one-of-a-kind look into the history of South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. It first opened its doors as the Hidalgo County Historical Museum in the old Hidalgo County jail. Built in 1910, the Old Jail continues to be one the most important sections of the museum.
In 2003, the Museum completed a $5.5 million dollar expansion, including a 22,500 square foot wing that includes, the Museum Store, Grand Lobby, and permanent exhibits. At the time of this expansion, the Museum changed to its present name to reflect its mission to represent the history of the entire region.
Unleash your imagination at the International Museum of Arts and Science (IMAS). At the IMAS, you’ll discover fascinating facts on creepy crawlers to ancient Dinosaurs or amazing science theories and breath taking art sculptures. The International Museum of Arts and Science offers a wide variety of art exhibits and a yearly calendar of events that will allow you to schedule your own art exhibits.
Smitty’s Jukebox and Ye Old Clock Museum, is a unique and a must see art museum. Smitty’s first opened its doors 30 plus years ago in Pharr Texas. There are over 60 jukeboxes on display, from the 1900’s to present-day, and each jukebox reflects its own memories’ of that period in time through the music each jukebox plays.
